Additional items can be added or subtracted to suit the users survival ability. Such as, button torch, zip lock bag and steri tabs, ready tinder, mylar sheet, etc. Keep in mind the more added the more unwieldy it will become to carry. For a people with little survival knowledge, a small bum bag may be better suited, bearing in mind EDC mean (EVERY DAY CARRY) where ever you go it has to go, be it to the shops, swimming, work, and must be on your person 24/7/365....

Thanks for this video, Bex... It a good reminder to review and refresh my EDC.

I carry a yellow (salt resistant) Lady Bug knife by Spyderco. It's tiny but holds well. (It's also on the expensive side.)
You may also want to carry a folded up zip baggie (for carrying water).
Along with your cordage and lighter, you've then got 4 of the C's (cutting, container, cordage and container).
Cover, or the 5th C, is tough to EDC. You'll have to get that off your surrounds.
Add in a (MecArmy) button compass, torch, whistle, your meds (and water purifier tabs?) and you're good to go?
(Keep the compass on a clip and detach from keys before use.)

The above stuff is easy to EDC but *_really, _* what you should EDC depends on your environment and what you're preparing for.
(I find EDC'ing is about trade offs... utility/frequency-of-use verses weight/size... my torch is not much bigger than it button cell battery and just a bit thicker.)

Personally, I EDC all the above, including a space blanket (cover), plus a power bank, wet ones (mini towels) and pencil/paper (actually a Fisher Space Pen). All this 'extra' stuff fits in my bum bag, or is that a belly bag?

I also carry 2 USB memory sticks (as small as you can get, about the size of, but 2x the length of a micro SD card). One is for misc data transfers BUT the other is wrapped in protective tape and holds my medical and other 'SOS' info.

Nowadays, I also EDC a small bottle of hand sanitizer and spare masks... LOL.

Hey Bex, love the uploads Brother. I've always maintained a keyring EDC too, but for me I've always been a Swiss Army Knife kinda guy. You can get a knife that eliminates the can opener and is a good cheaper alternative to a Leather man. Knife, Can opener etc but to each their own. I put cotton/wax as tinder in my pill box. Any way always look forwards to your no nonsense approach on the videos, Stay safe.

Hi! Bex, I had one of those little metal whistles. Unbeknown to me, the little plastic insert fell out rendering it useless, so I reverted back to the all plastic whistle in a vivid orange colour.
I also have a small classic SAK containing a blade, scissors; bottle opener; screwdriver; tweezers; toothpick and nail- file. It weighs next to nothing.
I also have one of those little containers you use for your painkillers, although I keep a large denomination banknote inside for emergencies.
I also have a larger container for pills, if I'm on holiday, that and a tiny torch that holds one AAA battery. I am surprised by how often I use the latter.
Hope you are not in too much pain, old age is not for sissies. God bless.

Truthfully my EDC, wallet, phone (long paracord strap on phone), several small rolls of duct tape in the wallet. On the keys, a Kershaw cinder knife with bottle opener, paracord fob on that, Philips and flat head individual screwdriver keyrings, prybar and nail remover keyring, flint n steel fuel filled lighter keyring (still sparks even when fuel is spent), usb multifunction LED keyring

Yes mate, reckon you're right about the edc and that you wont always be carrying a bag . I suppose knowledge is the best edc and you seem ok on that front . Take care Bex 👍

Had one very similar to yours except for a small knife, including the can opener and the same whistle, the blue paint does eventually wear off, but is still easy to find. Then a month ago bought a different car which recommends not having a heavy bunch of keys in the ignition. So snookered until I come up with another idea.
Going to use my original bunch of keys add one of those cheap carabiners for the car keys to quickly detach when driving ! Simple. If you hadn’t put this vid up, would have binned the idea of carrying anything, got me thinking last night

The EDC should be something that never changes wherever you are! Every Day. I add things to mine if I change from town to rural environments but the main items stay the same. Such as. A phone, keys, wallet with ID and medical information about me, my meds and a list of meds, duct tape, cordage, a watch, a pen and paper, safety pin. These always go where I go but a lighter only gets added when I go to the woods along with a small ferro rod as I don’t need these Every Day. Just the way I do it!🤷‍♂️🇬🇧

This is a subject that I've been thinking about for ages (since 1963) now. I want to do a little video on it myself (I wish I had your technical knowledge and ability). Anyway, some day soon I hope. Get one of those little keyring torches ;-D
Great video Bex. Put the keyring components onto your Amazon store :)
All the very best to you and yours 👍 👍 👍 🍻

I like your thought process could I make one suggestion I also have a pill box on my keys and right at the bottom in a tiny bag I have a tiny amount of potassium permanganate as a just in case for water purification amongst other users

To round it off it needs an EDC can of beans+sausages. To eat after using that can opener and then boil water in the tin after.
Now, how to fit a single tin somewhere comfortably and unobtrusively... hmmmm..

I'd put a blood group info onto your set up champ

Good points, but surely water is more important than food and doesn't even get a mention here. Also how will you make a shelter without a tarp? (Presuming you won't spend 4 or more hours building a natural shelter and thus burning tons of calories).
Point is, there's flaws in any edc.
Good thing is there's few places in everyday British life where you'd need an extensive kit due to be caught out.
Best edc is probs a back up mobile phone and charger.

Great video..
My everyday carry is a Gerber Vise micro multi tool and an Olight i3e torch on my car keys a 1lt water bottle, flint and steel for fire lighting and poncho with some paracord for keeping dry. And always carry a small first aid kit and a phone for communication and navigation.
Keep things simple 👌

I too have a 10 litre bag (side pouch of a Dutch Bergan) but it isn't my EDC, rather a get-home-bag which I take if I'm going to work or further afield. EDC by definition is what you have on you when you go out of the front door whether just to empty the bin or pop across to the shop to buy milk. So what's in your pockets or on your keychain. I also bought a cheapo nylon zip money belt with small items inside, inspired by the pricey Wazoo cache belt.
I agree the most essential 2 items are firemaking implements and cutting tools. I have a small Clipper daily use lighter (I smoke) in my coin pocket and a True Utility peanut-type petrol lighter on my keychain which I hardly use and the rubber seal ensures the fuel doesn't evaporate so it's always good to go, plus stormproof matches inside my belt. In my coin pocket I also always have a small multitool, normally the LM Squirt, otherwise Nextool Flagship Mini, the scissors are the most used tool on those. Plus I always carry a SAK or dedicated UK legal folder to complement that.
A US Channel, Survival Dispatch, made a good little 4 part series of surviving with literally just EDC items, i.e. just his Leatherman and a lighter plus some cordage. Bear in mind that unless you're in a remote wilderness - in which case you should have more gear on you anyway - it's always possible to find some kind of container and plastic sheeting or similar, but the cutting tool/multitool are needed to work with them

Bex about that tinker toy knife give me a break your going to put your life on the line and go cheap on a knife good luck with that . Also not going to rely on a single source of fire starting, one single belt pouch will carry every thing you need and will not wear a hole in your 60 pants also won't break you foot if you drop it on your foot . Stay safe happy Trails young man .
