Sloppy Form VS Textbook?? (HINT....Don't Train like a Pencil Neck)

The truth always lies in the middle……..I know some can’t stand that I don’t give black and white answers. But most of the time it just depends.

On paper you should focus on controlling the negative, holding the contraction for a split second, really work the stretch position and have perfect breathing on every rep when you step in the gym. But what if I told you that strict of form isn’t going to pack on pounds of granite hard muscle tissue.

The other side of the coin, just slinging around weight with zero thought, most likely will get you injured and fast.

So honestly we want right in the middle, tight form, not perfect……using enough load and intensity to trigger growth but not so explosive where you wreck your joints.

We can confidently say that if one wishes to "avoid" injury and the inherent risk in sloppy form, then do not lift like Branch Warren. Clearly, it has worked for him but would cause injury in 95% of those who lift that way.

Finally someone saying it. A bit of body English is fine, even better than "textbook" form. It's not cheating if it's getting you bigger and stronger

This is one of those questions that a lot of newer lifters are embarrassed to ask. Btw bud, don't know if its the shirt or the training but your biceps are getting seriously round with that nice split at the antecubital space 👍
