I hand wash a lot of my vintage clothes and delicate knits. Your dark clothes can handle a little bit of warm water as long as it’s mostly on the cold side. Doing this a lot gets your hands freezing cold so make sure your hands can tolerate your washing water. Also use way less detergent than you think. Liquid detergent is very concentrated. I use enough to cover the bottom of the cap and that’s it.
