York Galleria is a true relic of the late 80s, maintaining close to all of its original charm of pastels & neon. Let's go mall walking.

They really kept that late 80s/early 90s atmosphere. Cool video!

This Is my local mall, The subway in the food court closed for a while but now it's back open. The Christopher & Banks store is now closing Due to bankruptcy. A new restaurant also opened in the former cheese steak restaurant In the food court. unfortunately the mall lost Gnc, Game stop, And tumble town also due to the virus last summer.

I moved to York in 2002 and worked in that mall from 2005 to 2011 the B. Moss clothing Co. & The Sleep Number Store And The Bon Ton that mall used to be so busy and it's just sad to see it's so many empty stores through this video

The Casino just opened a little over a week ago and when I went in the mall with my son to get something to eat. It was busier than I remember it being the last time. They would have benefitted if Hobby Lobby had gone into this mall instead of West Manchester. But the Michael's Craft Store may have prevented them from being allowed to go in since they would both be so close together. Now that the Casi6is open. I'll have to bide my time and see how much busier the mall gets.

I used to work in the food court at bojangles YEARS ago. The mcdonalds was originally a Taco Johns. Was at the grand opening of this mall. Sad to see it go this route. I smoked my first cigarette in the food court :)

I used to go to this mall in the 90's. It definitely looks to be dying now. I moved away in 2004. Yes, it looks like when I used to go there.

This mall was always packed when it opened in 1989 and throughout the early to mid 90's. It fit the area for the time, but as times changed with online retail it started to decline just like a majority of other malls throughout the US. I see this one going the way of the old Hunt Valley Mall and being turned into a town center. York missed out on that opportunity when they turned the West Manchester Mall inside out. It feels more like a giant strip mall to me than a town center.

The hallways look like they just keep going and going... One would certainly get their exercise in this place.

Many fond memories of this mall. It’s a shame to see it so empty and I can’t imagine it lasting too much longer with so little traffic and the advent of the super strip mall concept 🤔😐

I love this mall and I hope I get to go before it closes for good

Also of note. The Target and Khols are technically considered part of the Galleria Mall. At least they used to be when they opened in the late 90s.

The other malls in this town were converted into fancy strip malls. Previously York Mall, North Mall, Delco Plaza, and Manchester Mall.

Wow, it’s huge !.... as you say it is probably too big now for the market ....why on earth did developers back in the day keep building these malls in towns like this where there were already three malls in existence... the trouble being that they all go after exactly the same tenants and so something had to give ....it seems such a waste of land, resources, and effort.
Another great video.. you really do give us just enough info to keep it interesting whilst letting us see the mall itself.. thanks for the U.K. !

The mall opened a year after we moved to York. This was such a cool spot to hang out in back in the 90's. so sad what happened to all the malls, I hope it survives- great memories.

Just now seeing this, , , I live not far from here this is sad to see it like this. I remember when it opened it used to be really busy back in the day. I still go there sometimes hoping it can make a come back ! The casino is now open it’s ok of course small hoping they eventually use the upstairs. Yes this is our mall after the York Mall, North Mall closed enjoyed them also ! Time will tell !!!

I moved to York PA in 1995 and lived there until 2014. I saw this area boom in the 90s then as fast as it took off it crashed. Businesses left, places boarded up, and the Galleria died. I loved shopping at this mall - especially at Christmas. I actually asked my (now ex) wife out at this mall when we were both in college and she was working at the Piercing Pagoda. I got my ear pierced just so I could ask her out. It's a shame to know what it once was and what it now is...but seems this has been happening to a lot of malls over the past decade.

Awww all the fountains ⛲️ are gone! I remember tossing pennys in and makeing a wish 🤞... thats what ya did back then. West Manchester also had fountains. It seems fountains don't exists in malls anymore... why is that?!
