Being religious and spiritual is 2 different things really but can come into the same category in certain circumstances.

I mean, alot of people go to church, get married in a church, baptise their child and get burried in hallowed ground yet claim they're not religious too.

Ah! I see that us Vietnamese and Japanese are not so different then. The graph shows Vietnamese are mostly atheist but yet there are so much shrines, temples, statues and pagodas in Vietnam, big, small, low altitude, high altitude, we got them all.
My family is one of them, visiting temple, incense and etc etc has become a so called “habit” for us as well.

So true!!

...it's kinda of like how "itadakimasu" is Buddhist, but not really Buddhist, lol 🙏

It's really a shame how the Shogunate ruined religion for everyone though 😢

And yet most Japanese homes literally contain a Buddhist shrine

Oh I see! Here in Germany most people believe in Lotto. Lotto is also some kind of religion and the temples look like Kiosks. But most people don't believe hard enough and stay poor...

I guess it all depends on the person but I feel Buddha has left Japan a long time ago.

Lots of people who are ashamed to say they are theists and their specific religion on YT also use that term, which can mean anything from atheist to fundamentalist theist!

Monasticism (in ancient Greek: μοναχός, monachós, "solitary person") is a phenomenon characterized by some renunciations of worldly interests to dedicate oneself in the most complete way to one's spirituality. It has its roots in the East and later in the West. Many religions have created monastic elements: Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism.

Yeah and the next thing you know for gambling with the gods is that they too gamble with the dropping of the most necessary thing, the'POPULATION bomb'.

But the reason is that imperial Japan was a Shinto theocratic state and despite the secularization that starts from 1945 until today, it has not completely eliminated religious influences
