This is so funny. I was in kamata station and salarymen kept saying sousousou so loudly 😂 i think they were a little drunk

Japanese when speaking to a foreign friend: why don't you say so?

In German we say "so", it is similar like japanese❤

When I was living and working in the US, I used to speak to my [Japanese] wife on the phone on a regular basis. One day the guy whose desk was right next to mine announced to a group of people in the lunch room that he was fluent in Japanese, and that he had picked it up by listening to me on the phone with my wife. Of course the people asked him to prove it. He said, "Un, un, un, un. Apparently that's all you need to have a conversation in Japanese on the phone."

As a German/Scottish American who has a Vietnamese wife. I never say stuff like that, lol. I usually use sarcasm and say ... So, and your point is what? Or For real though? lol 🤣🤣🤣

But it's better do not exaggerate it.
Otherwise they will guess that you don't listen.

That's why you should say "そう" with moderation

I wish there was an English equivalent for this, I'm tired of finding synonyms for "ok"
