We have a daily walk in which we discuss all kinds of things, and a lot of the time it is the three questions you listed. My advice to all couples is to never stop walking together - much safer space to discuss matters as sensitive as money

I don't want to choose between owning a house or being able to live anywhere in the world. Owning a house is a good first step to being able to travel anywhere around the world. Its useful for leverage on loans in an emergency, it can be rented out for income to support you while overseas, etc. If you want to live anywhere in the world, I recommend that you get a house and contract a good rental company.

I agree that there should be open financial talk between partners.
It's better to give each other certain amount for unquestioned spending and plan together for dreams, goals and plans of each partner as also family responsibilities and future plans for the family along with how to care for parents of both, whether or not dependant

How do you balance it when both would prefer to keep finances separate, but one makes significantly more (like more than double) than the other? How do you keep from one feeling taken advantage of because they usually pay or the other one feeling insecure or like they’re not contributing enough?

Excellent points however my wife and I have been married nearly 36 years (together even longer including 18 months travelling in 1983/4) and we did this before Wendy was even born. Then again I was an accountant and worked for some very precarious (financially) corporations. After finding ourselves unemployed after the 90s recession we had to look at life and our priorities. It took discipline, it took having to swallow pride but we are so glad we went through the pain. We now live for the day, plan our future and enjoy just being together.

Just don't buy anything you don't need and fulfill any financial obligations you have.

its not easy as you think it is.
I have tried it. How much ever I ask my partner to learn basic of finance, it never happens.

And also knowing my partner, If i happen to reveal 10% of what I have, the first demand will be to spend all that.

WOW!
I had thought that it's important to talk about how money should be spent,
But never thought of these 3 most important questions. After getting hearing these 3 questions, I really feel that these questions sums up a lot of other questions and heads aboveboard to the goal. Thanks.
