Just to let Americans know, the UK doesn’t elect prime ministers. It’s not a presidential system. A political party elects a leader. In a general election, the party with the most votes, forms the government. The losing parties then form together to become the opposition.

The leader of the winning Party goes to Buckingham palace to see the King, and ask formal permission to form the King’s government. It’s why you hear the expression ‘His Majesty’s government’ which is now led by Prime minister Rishi Sunak, the leader of the Conservative party.

As he is asking the question, you could see it click Anne-Marie head that Vlad missed what Cobbe just said.
