Three numbers in the title of the album and she didn’t get any of them.

Biggest surprise of the year, he didn’t give it a 0.

Katy Perry fundamentally captures “cringe millennial” energy that was considered quirky and endearing 10-15 years ago that just comes across as tired and embarrassing now. I think it’s clear that she really was just a product of the time, and not the pop chameleon with her finger on the pulse of culture that maybe we expected from someone with as many hits that she had.

most savage comment i saw was that the album sounded like an AI generated tampon commercial😭

JID single handedly saved katy perry from a 0, what a time to be alive

I’ve been patiently waiting for 2 things this year:
1. Diddy’s arrest
2. Katy Perry’s red flannel

It’s a Melon’s World, and we’re lucky to be living in it.

Katy really shot herself in the foot by working with Dr Luke again. People would forgive it being a bad album if she hadn't worked with him, and they'd probably forgive her working with him if the album had been good. Instead, she's ruined her, already shaky, reputation by making a bad album with a horrible person

She never survived Lorde. Neither did P!nk, but at least she kind of accepted it. Katy Perry chasing the success of 2012 is making her seem out of touch and desperate. The only reason she’s working with Dr. Luke is because he was involved with her most successful music. When you chase your younger self and try to seem younger than you are, it’s off-putting. It’s giving Jennifer Lopez’s entire career vibes.

A feminist album produced by Dr. Luke💀 what fucking joke and celebs wonder why their political opinions are usually laughed at

Rebecca Black having more of a comeback & more staying power than Katy Perry would kill someone if you told them 10 years ago.

Her reuniting with Dr. Luke on this was the warning bell that this was not gonna go well.

Can’t wait for Kesha’s re-recording of TiK ToK where she disses P. Diddy and hopefully Dr. Luke.

Respect to JID for getting the bag with these pop features while keeping his artistic integrity in his own music.

Can’t wait for Todd in the Shadows’ inevitable “Trainwreckords” video on this album

she named it 143 because that's where it's gonna debut at on the charts

As someone who composes music, creating happy and uplifting songs that don't come off as cheesy or childish is quite a difficult task, unlike melancholic songs that flow when we're sad and are naturally taken more seriously.

I'm saying this because Katy Perry's 'brand' has always been that of the uplifting artist, the one whose songs motivate you—radio hits that appeal to everyone from kids to older adults. She marked my teenage years with viral songs like 'California Gurls' and 'Firework, ' and it's sad to see her creative process decline. ❌

It's even more disappointing when we look back and see that the 'Witness' and 'Smile' eras, despite being controversial, delivered quality in some tracks.

Some people say she has been facing a boycott since the 'Witness' era due to her political stances, and I don’t doubt it - the music industry has a poor track record of relationships between producers, managers and artists.

I read in a comment above that her career is starting to resemble the mess that is Jennifer Lopez’s music career. I agree, but I think it’s even worse because J.Lo has the advantage of her 'mi gente' Latino background— being a girl from the Bronx who is deeply connected to her Latin roots (or at least tries to be)—and she has never focused on producing high-quality music.

In conclusion, while I feel sad about it, I don’t sympathize. She has a lot of money and had plenty of time to deliver the best pop dance album of 2024. She has far more resources than the girls of the new generation, like Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter. If she hasn't made a good album, it's because she didn't want to or has accepted that she’s not a great professional in her only occupation.

The highlights of the album (for me, but I see that others who listened to it are saying the same thing) are the beat of the song 'Gimme Gimme' and the verse by rapper JID—and rap isn't even in my top three favorite genres. Bad attempt, Katy, and good luck with your next album.

The fact that he thinks roar is still a good song is nice for me because it reminds me of how he can be totally wrong sometimes
