🩺ABOUT DR. BREWER
Dr. Brewer started as an Emergency Doctor. After seeing too many preventable heart attacks, he went to Johns Hopkins to learn Preventive Medicine. While there, he went on the run the post-graduate training program (residency) in Preventive Medicine. From there, he made a career of practicing and managing preventive medicine and primary care clinics. His later role in this area was Chief Medical Officer for Premise, which has close to 1,000 primary care/prevention clinics. He was also the Chief Medical Officer for MDLIVE, the second largest telemedicine company. More recently, he founded PrevMed, a heart attack, and stroke prevention clinic.

At PrevMed, we focus on heart attack, stroke, and cognitive decline. We serve patients who have already experienced an event as well as those who have not developed a diagnosis or event. Dr. Brewer provides services via telemedicine. We find a lot of undiagnosed prediabetes or insulin resistance. Treating unrecognized risk factors like prediabetes allows reduction of risk and prevention of disease.

I had a Nuclear stress test at the Hospital because my heart was racing very fast and I couldn’t catch my breath so I did the test and they said I had A Fibulation so after that I had to go to another hospital first they said they were gonna put in a pace maker I was 57 at the time but there are a few complications with a pacemaker so they decided to do a procedure called Oblation so they go thru the groin with 2 wires one is a camera and the other is to burn off tissue the operation takes 3 hrs it was a success it’s 3 years later I’m ok it’s amazing to me what modern medicine can do 😊

I had a nuclear stress test and they said you may have a blockage. Hell at 70 yrs old I could have told them that.
My nurse practitioner order me to have ultrasound on my legs because of poor circulation and found some blockage.
What good was the nuclear stress test besides to make the hospital money.
I no longer have contact with that hospital.

1. CIMT = Carotid Intima-Media Thickness test
2. Calcium Score test aka Agatston test

Following a plants based diet you can eliminate all blockages from your veins and arteries in 1-2 years and all kinds of inflammation disappear.
I am male 54, I have a stent on my artery coronary left for 1 year now and I refused all medication then I replaced them with plants based diet.
At the moment I feel blessed.

Tim Russert did not get a nuclear stress test he got a conventional exercise stress test. If he had got a nuclear stress test his situation may have been much different.

Hello! I'm 40, did a stress test, EKG results show that I have multiple 1mm ST depressions in multiple leads between 95 bpm all the way through to 177 bpm. They recommended I do a CTA angiogram with dye contrast. I'm nervous about any type of dye, nuclear medications, etc. Would you suggest that I do the CIMT and/or Calcium Score Test first? Or should I just suck it up and do the IV contrast angiogram? I was told I could also try tcsestamibi or thallium instead of the iodine contrast for it -- but all of these worry me. What would you suggest?

Thanks in advance. Your video is very informative and I appreciate it. @PrevMedHealth

I’m confused about the benefits of a calcium test. A high score is looked at as bad. But the plaque is calcified and stabilized, which appears far less likely to rupture. This should be better? You can have a calcium score of 50 and be loaded with soft plaque which is far more likely to rupture resulting in a cardiac event/death. So in the end, how can we be sure a lower score is better as the test only captures calcified plaque. So, what the hell does a calcium score really tell people?

I had a nuclear stress test which found nothing. A year and a half later I had a heart attack. The cath lab found that my LAD artery was 80% blocked. A heart catheterazition is more invasive and much more expensive, but more reliable. After having a stent, I now have to be on blood thinners for a year and low dose aspirin forever. I wonder if I had been on blood thinners if I would ever had a heart attack.

My calcium score was 350 in the LAD and they sent me for stress test that had EKG abnormalities so next test coming up is the cardio lite stress test. I am concerned about this being called the widow maker. I have minor mild pain at times across my chest. Goes away as fast it comes on.

Great info. I passed a nuclear stress test right before quintuple bypass surgery, and also years later before having a stent placed. It's not 100% accurate.

I was asked to do the stress test where they inject meds into you, to increase the heart rate. I chose the treadmill instead. My symptoms are tachycardia, dizziness, and I have a fib, I fear the nuclear test in which a substance raises my heart rate. I have heard negative things about the nuclear stress, and wonder if it is safe. I am 79 this year. I have had years of tachycardia, because I was hyperventilating in my sleep, and later it was diagnosed as apnea, which is why I believe I have A fib now. I am nervous about the nuclear test but if the treadmill is not reliable, what is the direction to go?

Note: I mentioned a while ago - A1 vs A2 Milk/Dairy products. What I was getting at is that Common A1 Milk in inflammatory to the whole body, where as A2 Milk is not. Something to consider for prevention. Hope you do not mind me mentioning again. 👍👍As usual

Stress test is a waste of time. Why do we do those? I asked my cardiologist who does them in house. He was making a lot of money doing them. Of course he was defensive. Positive calcium score should justify an angiogram automatically.

I thought the test was supposed to measure blockages in the arteries?
