I remember being a broke teenager in late 2004. All my friends were getting World of Warcraft and I had a crap computer without a graphics card. I needed something and I needed something cheap, Newegg had these on clearance for $50 a piece. I put it in the cheap Dell my parents had bought me a year prior and happily played the game at 20-25fps which I thought was good at the time.

There's something hilarious about hearing the bombastic and heroic Star Wars theme over-top a horrible framerate.

This exact card is having 64 bit of memory which slows down the card, significantly. I've had FX5200 with 128 bit of memory and I used to play Doom3 800x600 medium with 30fps and CS Source with 40-50fps same graphics settings.

I think your capture method is messing it up because this is preforming worse than integrated graphics.

Idk what shit rig you are running, but I played doom 3 in the old days on an fx5500 and the performance was way better than what you showed

This is a quite a sweet card to have for a retro Windows 98 machine when paired with something like a Pentium III/IV or an Athlon XP and a SB Live! playing games from around 2002 and earlier. It is very pants though once 2003 arrives.

Put it in a win98 setup and it’ll fly, also fx was the last nvglide compatible card, you can get full 3dfx voodoo 1 and 2 compatibility

Interesting find.. I just found my Nvidia FX 5500 PCI 128. I'm gonna be working on a legacy P4 1.4ghz Gateway with 768 RDram support. My Question if applicable is 98se, 2000 sp4, or Windows XP? interested in the mid to late nineties to 2000 games.

My first external gpu and still have it! Btw There must be something wrong about fps of doom 3 because ram is 1800mb used because rundll32 thing error I guess. Fx5500 can do 15~20 and more than 30 fps without shadows in advanced settings with 2 g ram.
