It’s the premier league of the Australian new car scene, but which mid-size SUV deserves to take home the silverware?
Australians bought more SUVs than all other new vehicle types combined in 2021 because we love the versatility and practicality they offer. The most popular SUV category is the Medium SUV class which absolutely nails the Goldilocks zone: they are right-sized for families, tuned for economy and performance, well-equipped and sharply priced, and brimming with the latest technologies and safety features demanded by Australians.

Mazda Cx 5 all day when it comes to simplicity, comfort/quietness and reliability. I owned a Hyundai/Kia and all the buttons/switches failed continuously even though I had them replaced as they failed. This included replacing the electronic brake switch twice. I wont be touching a Hyundai/Tucson any time soon. Also I drove the Outlander but just can't stand the CVT noise and the lack of punch in the engine. If they stick a normal transmission in this and add a turbo I would definitely have been interested.

I have the 2022 Outlander SEL Launch Edition in the states and this SUV is fantastic! All good options here presented - the PHEV though would be, to me, the one to get though if I had to get one in the near future.

Other than the full size spare, the CX5 matches or beats this KIA in everything they mentioned in this video... And nobody mentioned re-sale value..

Mitsubishi Outlander is the more practical and better choice when it comes to the mid size SUV.

I really like the Outlander from look to storage space, interior and fuel economy except for the engine.

I know its a big car but it take forever to reach 100km/h and if you have "a level 2 brown alert", it won't zip out of the way quickly enough to save itself.

Its a damn shame really.

I just bought the X-Pro. Love it. Kia gives you much for your money, exceptional winning formula. ❤️👍🏾🎯👏🏾🔥

You's are right about the stock availability in Aus with the Sportage GT-LINE. I managed to buy the 1.6L Petrol turbo. But had to fly up to Mackay and drive it back to Vic. Drives wonderfully smooth and quiet, even on the flood effected roads. There are only a few on the market atm, but don't pay more than $52, 000 before on road costs. Some dealers are trying to sell them for $65, 000-$73, 000 🤔

Mitsubishi outlander the best and prettiest

This review is bullshit. The RAV4 Hybrid is clearly the best car. The hybrid system is plenty powerful enough and delivers excellent efficiency and is perfect for urban Australian’s. I’d be worried buying any diesel powered car with a DPF like the Kia and using it for short trips.

I'm not sure how good the petrol engine variant of the all new Outlander shown in this video is as it's not sold over here in Japan, but I must tell you that the plug-in hybrid version feels far more premium and direct than the Audi Q5 diesel or the BMW X3 diesel, both of which I tested multiple times and was to be quite honest unimpressive for the price tags. Mitsubishi's AWD system management and motor-derived driving dynamics are absolutely mind blowing. Among non-premium family SUV options like these, the new Outlander never misses a beat.

The new cx5 still looks the same with the facelift and different i cant say is that the cx5 has the best looking interior, best driving dynamics, most powerful and peppy engine (i think) Turbo* and quiet cabin

Just stating a fact with no intentions of buying or supporting any brand. My sis-in-law used a RAV4 hybrid to tour Gold Coast in Apr 2022. They did around 600kms and the fuel cost was AUD32. I own a state-of-the-art Honda Jazz 2011 model. Thanks.

Definitely love the Kia and the Rav - I think in the current climate though, availability should be factored into the judging alongside all the other factors. I've been doing the rounds across so many dealers, across a range of makes and models and both the Kia and the Rav aren't available for between 5-9-12 months or more here in QLD (depending on the variant). It's great to recommend a car but it doesn't help so much if you can't actually get one when you might need it. The CX5 may be older in design, even in the new 2022 release, but at least it's in stock!
