I miss these tests, all we get now are drag races of the cars we'll never have. This video actually helped me decide and buy myself a CX5.

I miss my 2016.5 CX5. The 2.5 Skyactive engine was smooth to the touch and once I got behind the wheel of my CX 5 I didn't want to come off. I had a AWD so I put GF Goodrich KO2s and OMG it was off-road capable. I live in Alaska and it never let me down, except our family outgrown it. Now I have Toyota 4 Runner.

Dude, Korea and Japan aren't located in southeast Asia

Owned the 2500cc petrol version of the new CX5 for three years and it has proven to be thoroughly enjoyable to drive as my first SUV

CX5 for reliability comfort and performance with many extras as standard . I've driven the X5 and the CX5 being 6ft4 loved them both equally for comfort and drive . Admittedly the X5 cabin is another level but the Mazda is no slouch tbh Putting the CX5 up against the two Korean big hitters after sitting in a Sportage and it's scratchy plastic cockpit haven. Think the Mazda is great value for money

I looked at all of them. Ended up getting a Hyundai Tucson Sport. I have owned really high end performance cars. But I had a Tucson 2010, and it held up incredibly well. Now I have the 2019. The Aqua Blue Sport is awesome!

This is clearly not from Southeast Asia. What you are trying to refer to is East Asia.

Test drove the Kia and Hyundai back-to-back yesterday and the Kia definitely felt more unsettled on minor roads, jiggling around and not feeling at all planted. Also more wind noise than Hyundai at >60mph and again, less planted at dual-carriageway/motorway speeds.

No mention of warranty? Kia has 7 years! Plus it was the cheapest and in my view the best looking, although the “twin exhaust” cheating is a bit cheeky!!

I actually like there being a lip on the boot, it stops things rolling out (like an expensive bottle of wine!) and smashing on the floor when you open the boot to a full load of shopping.

It would be interesting to watch the verdict of CX-5 and RAV4.

Matt, Korea and Japan are not in the south east, they’re in the east. Nonetheless, this guide is really helpful for potential buyers!

Just bought a used 2015 CX5 2.2 Diesel to tow the caravan. LOVE it, took it for a drive out of town last weekend and it just went round any corner at whatever speed you told it too. Stuck like proverbial s**t to a blanket. The 2.2 Diesel has a tonne of punch and it climbed hills like it thought it was on the flat.

Taking it for a five hour drive with a lightweight 6.5M caravan on the back this weekend which was the main reason for the Diesel and with the Radar adaptive cruise control I can't wait to hit the road.

In Australia the CX-5 is the no. 1 seller in it's segment(RAV4 may challenge it soon) but we still went with the Tuscon Elite. Whilst the CX has the better drive train and the interior is more lush the Tuscon is the best riding vehicle in it's segment. This is due to it being locally tuned to our conditions. Few other small advantages over the CX, boot space, comfort, spare, tech etc. Would be happy with either and even the Sportage I'm sure. Nice review.

In regards to kia and hyundai, there are two back truck levels for deeper rear. There is a track, you slide it out and put on the lower rack and you get about 5 inches deeper where the tire area is.

I drive a 2013 Sportage. I 100% agree. It was Much better looking than the'13 Tuscon.
It's also very stiff, seats are pretty hard. It's been breaking my back for almost 8 years. Maybe time to upgrade

Great car reviews, fair with pros and cons
Skyactive petrol in Mazda is way better than the other 2, I would go with the diesel unit but Mazda as the rest, still have problems with DPF
