What is it like to go through TSA with a service animal?

I have gone through numerous times and it is never the same! Even at the same airport! However always get through okay.

I’m training my own service dog due to the long wait and the fact the VA is still in “trials” for ptsd dogs.
I visited our state house recently and they wanted us to go separately through security. I had a friend hold her leash while I went through and then she came through. Honestly I feel like they should have just used the wand on both of us instead, so we could stay together.
