My bf and I are an interracial couple and I've had so many people look at us ugly and I've heard comments. What I really dislike so much is that people can be so hateful. I ask why? Aren't we all children of God are we not suppose love one another. If we could walk around with no skin on we all would look the same, because we are the same. People need to stop being like that. Women especially can be so negative towards us. We're just trying to live our lives and be happy. As a woman born from an interracial couple, i never saw it growing up as am lighter in colour than one of my parents and I grew up in a big town in the 80's where i was one of two families that were of interracial couples, id question why there wasnt more but got no answers, now as a woman, ive heard it, seen it, lived through some shit because of it, Im grateful to be this age in this time of society and am proud of ny heritage so glady call it out if I see it, there should be just love for each other as humans but its not and thats the real tragedy... Its how we all are reminded of the faults we have when living in todays society. We cant change everyones mind but it would be nice to have a candid conversation to figure our differences with one abother

There is little that’s more eye opening for me as a black American male than the silliness that can come from personal interactions with women of other ethnicities, particularly with white women!

I remember one such occasion when I was with a particularly attractive white woman, not even on a date mind you, and she later shows me a text from a male acquaintance calling her a n—-er lover.

Other annoyances are just the stares of disbelief, the jungle fever assumptions, and the general tension felt by everyone when interracial couples form. There’s a level of scrutiny that just doesn’t happen within racial/cultural boundaries. The legitimacy of interracial bonds is too frequently questioned.
