The ball going across the line wasn’t direct to the goal. There was a City attack after but the Real Madrid won the ball, meaning they got the ball anyway. City then won back the ball and scored so it didn’t really matter. Real had the ball and lost it so the throw in they wanted didn’t matter.

Fun fact: the ref knew about this but the goal counted because real madrid got possession of the ball then city got the ball back and then did the attack which city scored in so that is the reason no var was involved
