They were robbed... the ref wasted a lot of time doing a VAR check for the wrong penalty decision he made... so he didn't account for that time... so not only did he finish the match roughly two minutes earlier but he did it at a crucial attacking point where a cross was being delivered into the box. Poor refereeing in general. In nearly every scenario a ref will wait for an attacking play to end before blowing the whistle, let alone waiting until the ball is literally in the air coming into the box. Showing a straight red to Bellingham for protesting the decision is also very weird considering there were loads of players doing the same who didn't get a card and dissent is a yellow card offense.

If you watch the player nxt to the referee, he was yelling at him to blow the whistle. He first attempts to blow his whistle when it looked like Valencia cleared the ball but Madrid regains possession again.
