I love learning web dev from Johnny Sins

Wordpress developers still use it because it’s the fastest to develop with. When you need an entire integrated site within 3 weeks, you won’t opt for React or even vanilla JavaScript. Bootstrap is also always used, and libraries are a must. Jquery will never completely die out. It’s just too convenient to use.

I think learning Jquery is still relevant, especially when you work on personal projects. And it's so easy to learn Jquery

Man we learn JQUERY just to make our life easier and because the dudes with potato pc can't use modern libraries or frameworks

Dude it literally takes 1 week to learn and so many companies still use it in legacy code . Do you want to put yourself in a position not to get a job over a skill that's not hard to learn. It's super competitive in the job market. It's a no brainier to learn.

As a relatively new React dev who didn't really bother with jquery, I think it's still worth learning -- I come across it enough in older codebases and libraries such as Cypress (or D3 which is similar but not exactly jquery). More generally, I think all web devs should have a pretty deep knowledge of directly manipulating the dom, not just with the virtual dom -- it's just expected knowledge at this point.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, it helps prioritize what coders want to learn

It gets the job done from a technical aspect. As a freelancer, it’s still very much relevant. Maybe not as an employee

I understand where you're coming from and I'd probably agree in the case of development roles focused on modern public sites, or companies where the software IS the product. This ignores a large segment of the development world though. Enterprise and internal development roles - and the tools they use - look very different. Often in those cases the timelines are shorter, the development teams are smaller, and the solution just needs to work. I still use it - even 1.5 yrs later - in almost all of my projects. It's extremely easy to implement and use, and for many of these internal apps - where the business is the customer - larger and more complicated frameworks would be way overkill. Totally get you're coming at it from a web dev-first standpoint, just offering an alternative self-taught dev perspective. Just stumbled across your channel, good stuff!

But why comparing jQuery with React and Vue js? Does jQuery does the same tasks same as react, angular, vue do regarding components and routing as well as mostbof the framework features?

im preparing my Azure-104 and it mentioned the JQuery in their hands-on lab documentation,
so I start to search whether I should learn it (I'm not from a technical background),
now I know what I should do, probably spend a couple of days to know the very basic should be enough .

The most important part is that I know the language is doing to die out in the very soon future from the trend you provided in the video, it saves much of my time and helps to make my decision, a very informative video.

Thanks Dorian.

Although it's fading out, lot's of legacy systems are still using it. I'd still say it's still much nicer to use than vanilla JS DOM manipulation

You say we shouldn’t but what replaces it then???

I don't now much about the looking for a job part, but can imagine you want to serve the industry demands. But keep in mind, you learn jquery very easily and it's a very handy skill... Sometimes you just want to build out an idea and then jquery (for me) is a go to tool (i combine it with Django)... If the idea turns out successful, you build further and layer the project if needed, with a "modern" js framework... Just a question @Dorian, what's your opinion about single page apps and SEO friendliness?
