The title is a little misleading because usually a "guard dog" is a trained dog, not just a pet dog with no idea how to actually bite or fight an intruder.

My guard dog has training..which is what makes her a guard dog lol

Unless trained, a dog isn't going to give two cares if someone takes your tv, most dogs will protect their owners more so than their owners dont bond with your personal possessions they bond with you.

2 nights ago I was in my shower when my front door was kicked in by home intruders. My 9 year old 85 lbs chocolate lab was vicious and did not let them cross the threshold. My guardian angel, she saved my family.

Here's an idea, how about trying that with a real guarding breed like a rottweiler, doberman or cane corso. That would be interesting to see!

When strangers are walking on my street my dog scruffy runs up to them, starts barking like crazy and watches from the front window in our living room, he might be small but he is very tough about keeping the house safe and my family when strangers approach.

If you dont train your dog to do this then what do you expect? Another dumb news report

The Cane Corso in the video was unfortunately a American Cane Corso. Most likely the off-spring of a pedigree show dog rather than a working breed. Home grown italian Cane Corsos wouldnt react so calmly. Much the same with any working breed. If its not from working bloodlines then you get a very watered down version of the original. Show bloodlines Produce a very different animal.

Guard dogs will protect your home because they are trained to be a guard dog a family pet that was not bred for protection will NOT protect your property. Some dogs may protect you but they will have no need to protect your property. My dog is trained to protect me but not my property therefore just because he's protecting me doesn't mean I will expect him to protect my property

I own a working GSD and there is no way he is letting anyone in the house. He's a very lean 100 lbs and I had to do a lot of work with him just to be able to have people over to my house. He's fine off my property with people and an absolute sweet heart with my one year old daughter but he would absolutely attack an intruder.

"your home is locked up" opens front door and walks inside

You don't need to train your dog most times only when owners are home they will bite also dogs are not dumb they know if you are actually bad or not and know if you are actually trying to do something bad and know if it is just staged

A lot of people think gsd's are natural bred guard dogs but they're not, they were bred to herd. Sure they can be trained to be great protectors, but that's only if they are trained. It's less likely for a dog to attack an intruder if their owner isn't home, but I don't doubt that many dogs would step in if their people were in danger. In my experience, the best guard dogs with little to no training are Rottweilers and cane corsos.

I have a chihuahua shih tuz mixed named Daisy and she's very protective of my sister like if me and my sister are play fighting then she will attack me or if my sister is laying down on her room and I go and like tap her daisy will jump on my sister and bark and snarl at me she will probably fight to the death for my sister if need be and she's MY DOG but she doesn't even like me and even worse if Daisy is next to me and my sister hits me and I hit her back she will try to bite me

I hope that my dog won't be too violent to the intruder, I just don't want him to get hurt.

I love the test, and although I don't have much experience training dogs, I HAVE to say that you are NOT considering in those videos the fact that Dogs can smell if you are afraid or nervous, therefore they can smell cortisol or adrenaline...or others hormones or whatever else I can't discuss nor disscribe it since I m not a vet. or a experienced person in the mater....I think that it's a VERY important thing you are not considering ... Since animals instinctively know if you are a threat or not... So, if you think about it, you only have half of the truth ...but if you were a real bulgur... maybe things could be different... or not.... don't you think?
