Valuable information and guidance. I m nt giving up hope on spouse Peter's ckd stage 5 even though his gfr is 11 in September (June gfr 15) and Creatinine is 403 in September, was 384 in June. I will continue to give him plant based diet with only salmon and seabass, plenty of fruits and vegetables of various colours. Plz pray for Peter. Tks and grateful.

I was looking to make my own electrolyte drink mix, so i wanted to make sure i have the ratios right. LMNT, probably rhe biggest brand for electrolyte powders, has 1000mg sodium to 200mg potassium (5:1 ratio).... The sodium seems rather high... I saw a Harvard article that said hunter gatherers had more of a 1:16 (one sodium to 16 potassium) ratio in their diets, which is way, WAY different from what LMNT says... My blood pressure is slightly high, so im trying to see what an ideal sodium: potassium ratio would be for me for my electrolyte drinks. Maybe 1:3? (One sodium to 3 potassium?)

That was helpful! I am on carnivore and they stress high salt. I can't take magnesium electrolytes, so I can balance it with potassium and maybe lower my blood pressure a bit.

I have been mostly wfpb since 2019. No ultra-processed anything. However, I was also very low sodium for the longest time and drank lots of water. Until one day i had water and felt like the water wasn't getting down my throat, and it tasted blander than usual. MY eGFR went to 87, for the first time. I am 65. I have not checked it yet, but have added more sea salt (2 tsp/day), and putting it in my water. The heart flutters have stopped. I believe adding more salt is the right thing to do. I think my eGFR will go back up. What do you think Dr Hashmi?

Doctor Hashmi,
My potassium is 5.5. How can I lower it? Thank you, and God bless 🙏
