Since its birth in 1775, the United States Navy has grown to be one of, if not the most powerful naval force in the world. It commands control of the high seas and its forward presence deters conflict. But, things were not always this way. At the start the Navy was small, and it was even disbanded for a period of time! However, since its reinstatement it has grown to be a force to be reckoned with.
In this video, we are going to discuss how a group of colonial rebels created the United States Navy in the American Revolution and its evolution since. Since the humble origins of the US fleet, there have been struggles. But with time, the country invested more money and effort into building up its naval power to protect shipping, the country, and the freedom of the seas. Follow along as we cover naval history from the 1770s until the 1920s and the introduction of Naval Aviation.
