Always use this perk on my rifle builds, it’s a great melee option on humanoids due to its insta kill animation.

like people have already mentioned, the shredder minigun ramps this up from 'decent but not really worth the investment' to 'I am now a walking blender'. Also don't forget that Overdrive adds a flat 25% crit chance, which stacks with this perk. Between that and Better Criticals you will absolutely churn up everything that comes close. Not sure if bashing counts as a heavy weapon attack or a melee attack. Best to get both bobbleheads just in case.

Combined with an automatic Handmade Rifle (which has multiple bashing mods), and using Overdrive (increased crit chance), you make a really fun run and gun build. Dash in, bash, and then spray them down with bullets while they're staggered.

i feel its important to mention that using the shredder minigun with no ammo as a chainsaw is one of the highest dps melee weapons in the game and it does scale with basher, just make sure you have no ammo and run up to your target pull the trigger and watch the blood spray

Fun fact: You can walk up to an enemy with the shredder uprgade on the minigun, and if you have no ammo, it will just start doing crazy amounts of hits with no AP cost. Combine it with this perk and an accel barrel and some overdrive, you've got yourself the kellog blender build (trademark pending)

And since crits ignore armor resistances this means you can kill the overboss from nuka-world without the squirt gun or vats!

the overdrive chem lets you crit outside of vats as well, so basher isn't the only way. Also guns with the "freezing" legendary effect freeze enemies when you land a critical hit, meaning you can freeze things repeatedly with basher.
