YES! It is possible, if you have the 7.1 model (2.4GHz CoreDuo) you just have to make sure a few details. I got it from
As for the details: you buy 1066MHz RAM and NOT faster one like 1600MHz for example. If you use incompatible RAM, the MBP won't start, instead it will beep with 5 seconds interval, which means that no (compatible) RAM was found. I tested on 10.10 Yosemite and upgraded to OS X 10.11 El Captian, no problems with either!

2,4 GHz MBP 16GB are possible with the 13 Inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro!

thanks dude - just upgraded Mid 2010 13" MBP to 2TB SSD & 16GB RAM - awesome....makes such a difference. Ended up using Time Machine backup to restore Mac OS, and whilst probs not the most efficient way to go about it, a small price to pay for insane speed now. Works like a charm! Thanks heaps dude - very helpful

Thats what Ive wanted to see!! Today, I was really really excited about replacing old RAM with new one I bought the other day. But what the RAM give my pc was just damn annoying beeps. Not to mention, I got upset and almost lost my mind. So I had googled what had been going for like 6 hours and gave up on doing it few hours ago. And I just came back to my room and started to watch Youtube, I bumped into this awesome video.
Anyway, thank you so much for uploading this video. I know this kind of things are pretty easy for you but its such a big deal for me(pure beginner). Peace

Thanks for making and sharing this helpful video. I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2010. I used to use Final Cut Pro and it was working fine but now it’s very slow even though I don’t use any heavy software on it. I actually haven’t used it for some time now.
Could you suggest me a software or tool to check the issues please?
I also would like to upgrade it, so could you suggest me what part I can upgrade and what maximum capacity I should get for those parts? Thanks in advance.

You are using a MacBook 13" - at other places on the net it say the processor can accept the DDR3 for 16GB. Do you know if the mid-2010 MBP 15" can also take this?

I get slow downs a lot despite cleaning up computer periodically - just has a go slow. Seems oddly to coincide when iPhone plays up and types on messages and calls out randomly. You'd think they were connected but apart from Cloud, they are not linked.

Anyway - good video. Any hints on 15" options greatly appreciated

Is it just the ram
Memory or is it a firmware update you need?

Hi there, I tried the trick with my mid 2009 17 inch Macbook Pro 5.2, 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and it didn't work. As you said it was beeping all the time and I wasn't able to get past the stage although it was 1066 DDR 3 (2 x 8GB memory). Memory sticks were looking exactly the same, sat well in the slot but weren't recognised by the system. btw. My computer was originally released with 4GB RAM so I already upgraded it once up to 8GB.

Sorry guys this only work for the 13 inch version of the 2010 or 2009
Anything over will not work
I ordered it and the company called me on the dispatch day and ask for my model which is the kid 2010 17" and was told it works for the 13" and had to come back and check this guy's video and realised he was using 13 "
It's completely safe to buy the product even the reviews on Amazon are do pleasing

I have been wanting to upgrade my 15" 2010 MBP with both ram and ssd. This option would not work for my MBP since it's a 15" i5 2.4. You might want to do some research before upgrading your 15" system. As I figure, Only, Intel Core 2 Duo 2010 MBP will suport 16 gb ram. Maybe all of the 13" 2010's after a software update. I really cant rap my head around all the different hardware/software specifics...

Suggestions please!
I guess 8 instead of 16 will have to do. Should still be a big step up from my 4 right?

Im also considering a ssd disk. Will it make my machine much faster or are there issues with default old hardware/software, bottlenecks, etc? I'd hate spend a lot of money and not have it work out.

3 upgrade options:

1: 8 gb ram + ssd disk.
2: 8 gb ram.
3: ssd disk.

Hey so I believe there's a mistake in your description (as well as the title on the amazon page) the title refers to the RAM as having 200 pins, but the actual description of the amazon page says it is 204. I don't believe they made DDR3 RAM with 200 pins, so this does in fact seem like a mistake and could potentially lead to some confusion.

So knowing what you know how in todays date. Is it worth it upgrading the ram and ssd? in a practical standpoint with respect to usability?
