M. Night Shyamalan is an above average director. Sure, the guy had his flops – a strong of them – but, then again, so does every director. His biggest problem was the comparison's to Steven Spielberg, which were overblown. He was being compared to someone he wasn't, which is proved through the films. Shyamalan does best when he can get a little weird.Trying to shoehorn him into a mass appeal film will only be bad for him and the producers. Let Shyamalan be Shyamalan and you're almost guaranteed to earn your money back.

Some other video essays to check out that are more specific to his films:

I’m watching Servant rn, were on the 5th or so episode. Absolutely intriguing show. And with 4 seasons, I have little clue where this series is going. I have an idea about the nanny but we’ll see lol

What He did to the ending of Cabin at the End of The World is a disgrace to Paul Tremblay’s heartbreakingly gorgeous book and I won’t forgive him for flipping the hopeful gay-love story into the most basic Hollywood schlock happy ending he could and in interviews he was proud of it. Screw him for that. His daughters a great singer tho.
