John MacArthur on Steve Lawson

During last week's evening service at Grace Community Church, Pastor John MacArthur returned and provided his thoughts on Steve Lawson.

I agree that it is good that we pray for them. Pastor John's words are so loving and wise. What surprises and saddens me is that there is no word of Steve Lawson repenting yet.😢

I enjoyed listening Dr. Lawson’s teachings in the past. I have not followed the aftermath of what happened. I read about what happened knowing as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ I am just as susceptible; I have prayed for Dr. Lawson, his family, and all those affected by the sin.

I have seen numerous videos on YouTube about the subject with some stating “new details”. I wonder about the people that want to continue staying on top of a subject like this because it seems they’re just hungry for the “juicy bits”.

The Apostle Paul gives ample warning: “Therefore let anyone who thinks that he stands take heed lest he fall”.

What John Said was what everyone has been feeling, a tragedy and truly agony. As we have many who are failures, the church is the Corner stone of Christ, not man.

When I was a young Christian, it was easy to point the finger...now my heart breaks for all involved here. King David's sins were the same here plus murder...yes, God forgave him but trouble never left David's house from that time forward...consequences yes - condemnation no. I too hope Steve Lawson repents and is restored in his relationship with Christ...and the Lord mete out what He wills. Now instead of pointing a finger tho - I humbly repeat - please, Lord, hold me close...and there but for the grace of God go I.

Pastor John's comments were spot on. We need to pray for Steve Lawson. The fact that we have not heard from him is very concerning. Is his conscience scarred?

I do appreciate that many of the Calvinists are finally speaking out about this. Although, I will say, many of the people who find every chance to trash Doug Wilson seemed to gloss over this in their blogs. I have filtered out a lot of people in the last 2 months.
