I agree with most of these especially why the king can't castle when he's in check. But I think there is an explanation to why you can't capture your opponent's king when you checkmate them. This is because chess is like a battlefield type game where two kings are trying to defeat each other with their army. According to the earlier rules of war, when a King is defeated, he can't be killed in the battlefield. He has to be imprisoned and then killed later through an execution. A king's dead body and blood on the battlefield is considered unholy, it is only his soldiers who can sacrifice themselves in the battlefield.
