All of those price ranges are also assuming that you know what you’re doing. 😉

Also remember its important to think about if you even *need* to spend this much for a build, depending on what games you enjoy you might achieve a basically identical experience for way less by choosing more reasonable parts rather than trying to go overkill

Don't forget another VERY important thing to remember
Budget your pc according to what you
A. Plan on playing
B. How much time to game you actually have
C. How much you are willing to spend on games

Even tho it feels nice to spend, it's not worth spending like 1.5k on a pc if all you play is stuff like counter strike or tf2

There are two main build strategies which have existed for 30+ years:

<{ Going Short ~ $1000-$1200 }>
This is the approach most builders tend to favor - starting with the CPU + GPU combo and then piecemealing the rest of the system around them. While not inherently a bad approach, it does tend to limit expansion and upgradeability. Usually good for 2-3 years before buying a new system.

<{ Going Long ~ $1500-$1800 }>
Less popular because it's a greater initial outlay, but is far more economical in the long run. Emphasis is on quality base components - primarily the case, PS, motherboard, and key peripherals. The motherboard can readily accommodate multiple expansions and upgrades, while the rest can endure through two or more future motherboards. The motherboard is usually good for 5-8 years before needing to be replaced/upgraded, while the rest can easily go 15+ years.

Great recommendations, and I’m so glad he didn’t 2000 or something. The barrier to entry isn’t that high. For casual folks you really don’t need the top end, and a pc will last for a long time especially with some basic upgrade paths..

What’s CPU and GPU imbalance? And Is a ryzen 7 9800x3D with a RTX 4070 12GB super, good?

Can I play Microsoft flight sim on it with good frames?

Don’t forget if you are outside of America. Use a money converter to see how much it will cost you in your country.

For example. $500 usd is about $806 aud. So probably around $750 Canadien. Give or take.

blame the case originally being 28 dollars and the shipping being 108 dollars

I spent 1.5k on a pre-built over the Christmas sales, I'm super happy with it, I'm able to run 4k high with ray tracing on in games like god of war and final fantasy at 100 to 120fps on a 55 inch "gaming tv"

Over Q4 2024 I spent roughly 2.5k on a new PC to replace my 3-4 year old system, 4070ti Super, Ryzen 7 9700x, some kingston fury ram, and some WD Black SSDs are the important specs, and frankly I think as long as nothing breaks this should last me at least 8 years.

I’m in Sweden and looking into bulking a new pc with a 9700XTX & 7 98X3D. And that will cost atleast 3000$ even with “budget” MB, PSU, RAM etc.
