Circuit Components and Symbols - GCSE Physics

This video introduces the many different circuit components and circuit symbols that are included in GCSE electricity.

There are loads of different components that can be used to build a circuit and sometimes it's quite difficult to distinguish which component is which. It is very important to not only distinguish which components are which but also to have a specific and clear symbol for each component so that when we draw our circuits it is absolutely clear which components we are using.

These components include; a cell, a battery, a filament bulb, a resistor, a diode, a wire, a variable resistor, a light dependent resistor (LDR), a thermistor, a fuse, a light emitting diode (LED), an ammeter and a voltmeter.

It is important to take some time studying circuit components and symbols in order to commit them to memory.

Thanks for watching,

Lewis

Thank god for this channel. Every other science video my teachers make me watch is this weird guy with weird Einstein hair whereas you gave useful information and where calm and easy to listen to

What is the GCSE symbol used for a variable DC supply? Would it be acceptable to draw multiple cells with an arrow through them. With the arrow representing the capacity to change the P.D. of the supply? I ask this as a teacher of some inquisitive students - I have found no teacher/ material issued by the exam board that can answer this question.
