The most annoying part of the excavation profession is the Sonar ability that you have to use. This ability is the equivalent of using a metal detector where it beeps faster the closer you are to a treasure. You technically don’t have to use it though. Check this out.

Worth noting that excavating takes about 3 times more life energy per node as well (vs giving more materials). Thanks for the info tho :)

There was a 4x difference. Grey excavation mats used to be over 100 gold. Then the additional honing mats dropped like bombs and that's why they're 20 now

I still run the detector to save a couple seconds if the relic isn't there

How does the sniffer dog actually work? I understand that it finds the relics but how and when does it's loot buff apply?

Either you know where the spawn locations are or you spent your time going to random spots till you found a relic, cause there's no way you're gonna get that lucky and hit all 3x
