In this video I discuss filming traditional art videos (speedpainting videos, or sketchbook tours etc.) however the methods I discuss here are also relevant for filming digital art speedpaints, as I've used the overhead filming method shown to film procreate drawing processes on my iPad (shown later in the video)

For people who want to use a phone as a camera while saving the footage on a laptop or PC, there are some apps that let you essentially turn a phone into a webcam. I've been personally using the app named Iriun Webcam since about 2021 as a facecam for art videos, but I tried recording traditional drawing with it too through OBS studio. I heard that people had technical issues with it, and some features are paywalled, but it's more than usable if someone can't get a proper webcam / camera for recording. I'd definitely use it this way if I was a mainly traditional artist.

For extra hard drive space saving in exchange for a little bit of video quality, you can use OBS to livestream your footage to youtube and download it when you need it, but with a private livestream, so nobody will ever get to see it. This also goes to recording digital art footage as well.

Also... I'm not going to say anything about by microphone stand that is 3 deodorant cans duct taped together, nor the old nightstand and a stool on my regular desk to transform it into a standing desk.. knowing about their existence is more than enough.. :D

My issue is that I don’t own a desk… and the tables I do have are very ugly orangey wood stains 😭
