In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.

For me, I get so angry around chewing noises or just... mouth noises in general. They genuinely make me ANGRY and frustrated and I have to leave, or I yell and hit something.

Id like to add that being stressed or anxious around certain sounds can also be a symptom of misophonia

Misophonia FTW!! Dripping faucets. Smacking gum. Crunching chips. Repetitive sniffing. Chewing ice. When I hear that, murder is the only answer. (j/k. I just stomp off and get away from the noise)

I have these three sound sensitivities. However, misphonia and phonophobia disturb me more than the third one. It's really difficult to be functional like other people when you are diagnosed with sound sensitivities. I can be very angry when people surf TikTok in front of me as I can hear repeating music/song non-stop. Sometimes, I wish I just live in a silent and remote area.

Misophonia effects almost every sound for me, I can’t bear to hear the sound of anyone breathing including me and I can’t just stop breathing!

I definitely suffer from Misophonia and only within the last couple years even knew what to call it. It stems from my dad's constant "stimming" behavior during my childhood: whistling, tapping, mouth noises. Now hearing anything like that puts me into an instant rage.

Important to make sure if its something else as well. I thought for awhile that i had a problem with sounds, but it was actually anxiety that made sounds feel heightened.

Every time I hear someone chewing it feels like there’s an electric shock going through my body as well as being really angry

hahahaa and people are all "you can't stay at home all the time, come out to these settings where you'll have no control over the noise" and I'm like "Three for three, bitches, I'm staying home with my noise cancelling headphones"

I also wanted to mention this: I tried using CBD oil to reduce anxiety and it significantly reduced my misophonic reaction to sounds. I stopped using it because my wife objected to it being "a drug" but in reality, I feel like it helped a lot with this. If you suffer from some of these, maybe consider giving it a try to see if it helps.

Hypersensitivity to sound, phonophobia, hyperacusis, misophonia..been through hell all my life. Worsen after some dxxxass tore down our village to built flyover road just beside our home. 8 years to finish. Days & nights working as they pleased. Even worsen my conditon after got into accident in 2021 which makes my left ear (d sensitive one) in pain, numb, ringing, to sore throat, stuffy nose until now. Maybe my ear not so sensitive like it used to be. But still sensitive than normal people do. I still got anxious, panic attack, self harming (really bad) when triggered. Now theres people rent land behind our house for heavy vehicles "workshop". Also works as they pleased dusk to dawn. My bedroom would shake(or maybe just me shaking) even with double soundproof windows. Theres new neighbours building houses beside & accross our house. 10mins peace feels like heaven. Just wanna sleep & never wake up. or someone would save me from this hell. Cant sleep, cant eat well, cant do anything i want when triggered. Im in pain. Its not just ur "annoyed to sound" kinda thing..

Every time I would start to fall asleep I would hear a loud bang or clap or knock. It would jolt me up and I’d then have to try to fall asleep again.

I'd like to suggest another sound sensitivity, but I understand if it's a tricky one to include because there isn't much scientific data on it and it overlaps partly with the others already mentioned. But I especially wanted to suggest this one because I suffer from it myself and it's been very debilitating: it is tensor tympani syndrome.

I have misophonia and it already makes my mental health worse and most people with misophonia but my brother just has to speed up the process by so much

I have vestibular hyperacusis that has gotten tremendously worse in the past year, because of about 2 major setbacks, and who knows what other unhealthy decisions I have made over the course of 3 year. But it's manageable with 3 sound machines, sleeping meds, and living in a quiet area. The most annoying thing I'd say is other people that don't understand how to be quiet if they walk up to me, because living with this condition, it's 10/10 I will not be purposely interacting with people. I used to be a huge socialite so it's a major change in my life and to everyone who knows me that lives in my town to see me and wonder why I haven't yelled at them from across a parking lot lol
