What would be nice is if they made an update with either a flying tame or a new much larger ship made with "black metal nails" where you could somehow "store" a certain amount of tames based on their size in the lower cargo hold. Idk... maybe not. Just me trying to figure out a permanent solution to transporting tames across the ocean.

Note- unless the sea is glass-smooth your longship will take 20 damage regularly if you're travelling at greater than speed 1, necessitating regular stops to repair, along with the attendant problems that entails.

I prefer using the portal anything mod. Exclusively for the mental image of a Lox squeezing through a portal exit like an overweight or very fluffy cat through a pet flap.

I managed to bring my lox home after a long trip. He did go after a bloody deer that decided to go for a effin swim, but staying close to the shore as much as you can is the best strategy

Worst case scenario you could bring the abyssal harpoon, youll need to switch friendly fire though, unless you wanna pull a untamed lox through the ocean.

I walked a lox from my plains base to my main base (not far from spawn). I had to cross the ocean twice to get there. It was much too far for my lox to swim between islands, so I got a bunch of two-star wolves to follow me, and they propelled the lox and me through the water with minimal stamina use.

It's best to plan ahead and find the nearest Plains biome to tame a lox from.

They really need to add another portal type or a cargo raft for transporting animals. (Yes I know about the grausten portal and the big boat)

As an extra comment- you can (carefully) transport 2 lox on a longship, But you can easily walk 6 onto a drakkar, and probably 2-3 more with little real difficulty. (I stopped at 6 because I was testing ease of on- and off-loading, rather than maximum capacity.

My lox jumped off to chase a boar and it was a pain to get him back on again.

We ride our loxes to base on a ground almost through the half of the map choosing routs with small rivers cross😂
