Who Was Martin Luther King Jr.?- Read Aloud Using CCSS Core

Here is Cedar Chapel Special School’s first video in a series we will be releasing over the coming months demonstrating the use of the CCSS Core Language Board. This first video shows how an age appropriate book can be modified to support student understanding with the use of the CCSS Core Board. Prior to reading to the group, the book was reviewed and all core words were highlighted to help the reader know when to point to the words on the core board as she was reading to the group. For those new to using the visual language, we suggest choosing 1 or 2 core words with books you have at home. Don’t feel pressure to model all of the core words at first, some modeling is better than none at all. As you become comfortable with finding “core” the easier modeling more words will be!
