Awesome video! I'm sending this to my gentleman friend for his Jeep. He thought you either needed a code reader or needed to take it into a shop. I told him I did this on my van before I took it to a shop. I didn't get screwed over! They fixed what was wrong and that was all. Engine light went off!

I ended up giving my Jeep Cherokee away in return to have solar fitted to my Hiace Campervan. I got sick and tired of trying to resolve endlessly recurring OBD code problems on the Jeep. I tried this on my 12’ JKU and it didn’t work. BUT THEN I tried it with my door OPEN and it WORKED!!! Although it showed I had no codes.... my “check engine” light appears right below my “P” parking light indicator (not in the upper right corner of the dash).

The other trick for resetting and not having to wait 5 minutes is to disconnect t the battery and honk the horn. It won't actually honk it just discharges any remaining power in the system.

I seem to recall that in the States that have a Smog Check. If you do the Battery Disconnect to Clear the Codes, the Car has to do a Monitor Reset (few hundred miles), or the Tech checking your Car will see the Battery has been disconnected, and not Pass your Vehicle.

Does disconnecting the battery reset ABS/traction control lights? Say after you change a speed sensor? Getting ready to swap one out and don’t wanna have to wait for it to reset itself.

Check engine light is on but after the dashes leave it still just says done. No code

I ran this check several times without success. There were a few problems. The first is that moving the key to the far position started my engine. The second was that moving the key to the on position prevented me from moving the key back to the off position. Ultimately, I was not able to run this method to successfully test my codes for a 2011 Jeep Wrangler. If anyone has any advice on how to test the codes for a 2011 Jeep Wrangler, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My check engine light is on but when I check for the code it doesn't provide one... then says done. Any ideas why? It's a 2013 wrangler sport.
