That's all he can do, laugh cause he know he screw up. But deep inside, I know he's feeling immense regret for his decision. A 3 point lead for Magnus is almost a sure win already, poor Nepo.

I feel like that was more of a cry-laugh.

Magnus is behaving respectfully and perfectly so far.

This tournament turn out to be the easiest championchip match for Carlsen. Back in Russia fans must be furious

Actually he realized a gross mistake right after the C5 move and left to the break room where he stayed 20 minutes mentally preparing him self to continue the game. And that reaction is not on the blunder, it's on the C6 move that was made, i think deep inside he where hoping that Magnus missed that. And that smile saying "yeah, that was obvious, am i really thought that he will miss that?"

Seeing his bishop trapped kind of reminds me of Fischer-Spassky's first match for the world championship

I feel so sad for Nepo, I was hoping he'd put up a fight but it seems he's completely lost it after the grueling defeat of the 6th game. Now he has to win 3 games and draw the last in order to stay in the match, there's no way he's doing that. I expect he either withdraws or plays the next two games, then the match ends early because he didn't manage to pull off a win.

I really like both of these guys, and feel badly for Nepo.

He just felt apart after that tablebase draw that he lost. He does not seem the same player at all ...

Only once challenger came back from 3 point deficit in W Ch match. in 1978 Karpov was leading 5-2 and Korchnoi won 3 games out of next 4 and drew one to even the score 5-5 . Both had to win only one more game to win championships .Karpov then took time out for 4 days ( it was possible to do so back then ), left the city, rested in relaxed athmosphere and when he came back, he calmed down a bit and was ready to fight again. Korchnoi made huge tactical mistake overpressing in very next game hoping to score last necessary win and lost. Almost everyone said, he should have made safe draws and patiently wait for his good chance ( it was unlimited match ) since Karpov was physically not strong and even after rest days looked quite exchausted, lost some weight too .

Here is 14-game match. Comeback is virtually impossible. Only question is final score and if Nepo can score at least one win. Even that seems not likely.

That 8 hour long game that Nepo lost must've broken him :/

The 8 hour game showed the Brilliancy of Carlsen, but the 3 point lead only shows the burden of playing a world championship match. T ain't easy if u are playing for the win instead of playing simply to not lose.

Oh man. This world championship match is taking its toll on Ian. Not easy at all.

Kinda funny how Nepo can go from playing two of the most accurate games in WCC history back to back, to blundering two games in a row and by his own admission not playing like a Grandmaster.

it's funny because these guys normally see 5 move combinations like you and I see ice cream down the freezer isle, but Ian's like if I don't acknowledge it then it's not really there. Let me leave again and troll a bit.

Was c6 possible (to trap the bishop) even without c5?
