First I planned to make this an unlisted video on my main channel, but then decided to make a new channel where I could also dump those shorts that previously polluted my main channel.

Posy always self-deprecates about how boring he and his videos are, when he is honestly one of the most interesting creators in my subscriptions right now. I could watch this for hours

"Don't click" - I click. I do love involved nerdy things nobody will know about or care about.
"Way too in-depth and way too boring" sounds like Technology Connections - Another channel I enjoy listening to. There is a call for this stuff, heck I'll be coming back.

[39:41] The ending voiceover did not take into account the scenario where the viewer has actually watched the video all the way through.

I fondly recall spending hours and days attempting to create surreal landscapes with the old terragen. I haven’t seen that loading screen in since I was rocking ivory towers and ginormous crt displays. Thanks for bringing me back in time, and to fantastic new worlds!

Good video. Ramblings of a madman, atleast now I know that I am not alone. As a software developer working from home I also make some weird noises.

Also this is exactly the type of video that gives answer for question "How do you make videos?" and "What software do you use?". This is not a tutorial, but gives really good overview of work process. I don't do much video editing, but I learned a lot. Got a good look how someone uses Resolve and does audio design in a real world.

I liked the overview of the odd process of using legacy programs.

In conclusion, I found this video a lot more interesting that the title says. Maybe I am very boring person and find boring things interesting. One thing I take from this is bulk renaming files in windows file explorer at 16:46. I myself would have written python script to do that.

I loved Terragen back in the day... 20 years or so later, I made my own realtime terrain generator for a game. Terragen is still an inspiration today :)

hearing you go slowly insane is much more entertaining than you had expected...also: it's in the teeth, bob! that's why I pulled them all out...

I was watching every second of the video, often nodding, thinking "yep, creating things sometimes do be like that". Contrary to the title, some of us weirdos apparently enjoy this kind of video. Thanks for sharing!

It's simply comfortable to listen to people talk when they're doing what they're good at

"Pillar City" seemed like a Borg Cube at first!

Love your exasperated sputtering, very relatable with anything to do with working on computers...

Thank you for going though all the process. Intriguing to see such old software at work and produce such magnificent images!
Contrary to your comments on screen I found all of it highly interesting and very entertaining.
As a 3D artist I have a bit of background knowledge.
Its mind-blowing what you was able to massage out of Terragen. Thanks so much for putting in the effort!

You say I’m better off watching something else but that is a plain lie. You have provided a (relatively) candid look into your personal creative process and I appreciate that level of vulnerability. You’re making great stuff man!

36:42 Yup it was moring lol.
Also, if u didn't make this vid about creation of the terrain and claimed that u were an alien and filmed the other vid in space irl, I WOULD DEFINETELY BUY THAT!

i'm like, feeling *emotions* about this. Posy's humility, the soothing voice with the accent that makes him sound like the friendliest person in the world, the obvious passion about this way-old program that serves no *purpose* but sharing joy. This is so pure it's actually making me cry.

I feel like it's gonna be a fun project to rewrite Terragen Classic from scratch. It seems from this video that there's a handleable number of parameters and functions. It'll be interesting to learn how to implement all these in a homebrew setting. Hopefully won't run into any copyright issues though.

thanks for this video i was really happy to hear in the main channel one that you made a tutorial. so many times i see something cool done in old software and cant find any explanation of how to use it.
