Ran into a guy in a chow tent in Afghanistan. He had on fuckin khakis and a blue polo shirt, rifle slung around his neck. I asked him what the hell he was doing there and he told me he was a librarian. Fuckin lols.

When you're in special ops mission and see some dudes wearing jeans and a polo shirt eating ice cream join the mission, you know its gonna be a fast mission.

True story. OIF I outside of Al Naseriah in Iraq. My unit is staged at a compound. These dudes in grey BDUs with black flack jackets and assault gear with skateboard helmets roll up on us in 2 skeleton humvees. The teams were faced outboard on jump seats. I think 7 per vehicle. I asked one of them, "are you guys delta force" one of them responds, "no, we're omega force" and they start laughing as they skid away showering me with gravel and dust. They ride into the city, turn the corner, and all hell broke loose.

I have a friend/cadre who was a Ranger and Delta who was at Mogadishu and you would never know he was Delta due to being so down to earth … RESPECT to these professionals

I know one of those guys, from the civilian side. He's in his late 50's, known him since high school, couldn't tell you a single thing he has done "at work ", not one.

Met a Unit Operator at Bagram, he was dressed in plain clothes with a full ZZ Top beard. I asked him what he did & who he was with, he just looked at me & said, "Zookeeper.."

I was NCOIC running ops at Bagram. My soldiers disembarked personnel off of a c130 that just arrived. One of my Privates took their ID cards and swipe the cards as they arrived. I looked at the manifest it created and realized we just escorted "Bambi", "Elvis", "Batman", and "Kong" first name "King". 🤦🏾‍♂️

My dad’s best friend was a bad man. Delta force and he would show me pics but everyone but his face would be blurred out. Even the ones he had at home for himself. He was a MMA fighter, policeman, firefighter, and agent after his deployments. Dude is a different breed

I miss my dad so much ❤ killed in Afghanistan in 2005; and this description is exactly on point. Older guys in blue jeans and shirts and boots with gun and duffel bags. Come in, do their job, stay humble, quiet, down to earth. Exactly my dad lol with his black clunky tactical watch, baseball cap, beard and curly hair grown out, never talked about work or war, or bragged. Didn’t glorify war but was a warrior who loved his country, loved his job.

When I was in the barracks we were right across from our main airfield. One night we were told all power to our barracks and the surrounding areas would be turned off due to some training event on the airfield.
The lights and power went off.
Next thing you know we hear a few airplanes fly low on the airfield, some of us had NVGs so we put them on. the backs of these planes open up and we see Humvees and quads being driven out of the back as the plane continues to fly low and lift off. Men sliding down black hawks and them entering warehouses and doing some kind of cqb.
Turned out to be delta training on taking an airfield, pretty wild to watch.

Never underestimate the old school..
They have seen the world more than anyone next to you.. just respect them 🎉
