Engineers who designed these phones hold their breath on every bend test. Kuddos to them.

It'll be interesting to see if it holds a long term Zack durability test

I own the Flip 5 and of course have a case on it. No issues and scratches so far. I use it as a daily driver and love it from its previous versions.

Love to hear that Tech Youtubers actually use the same piece of kit for 4 years. I always though you guys would be replacing constantly. Great message to others for not wasting resources <3

Very impressed that it can survive that reverse bend

Scratches at level 2 with deeper grooves at level 3

No one would've thought Jerry's new upgrade will be a Flip/Fold S series to Note series to Fold series...

The only way I can see flip phone internal screens becoming more durable to scratches (to an extent) would be if they can create some sort of hybrid screen. They could have glass on the top and bottom (or left and right) and somehow integrate the plastic part into the glass but only where the fold is.

It's surprising how much people still expect these things to go down easy. I didn't hold my breath once and it passed with flying colours. Gotta say, the 5 looks really frickin pretty, it truly is a gorgeous and useful piece of kit by now. I've used lots of foldables by now with no issue so I know the worries are far over-hyped (at least with Samsung in particular) and tbh if there's a green Flip 6 I'll probably turn in my Flip 3 for that. Solid phone, by now, and it started off not too shabby to begin with!

03:46 Not to be too technical but memory CAN be upgraded since the phone has RAM+ feature.
Storage CAN'T be upgraded.

Honestly, this does more to make me want to buy a flip than just about anything else. Zacks demonstrated that this thing is nearing normal phone durability which is really impressive. If the flip 6 has some real camera upgrades, I think that's the next one for me.

You should do a "twist" test on folding phones, to see if the hinge can take horizontal stress without coming apart.

For someone as tough as Zack, using something as fragile as a flip phone seems contradictory, despite it surviving the test. It's gonna be interesting to see the phone from inside!

I'm watching this on a Flip 5, and I love it. The phone takes perfectly serviceable photos unless you are a photo snob. The only issue I've noticed is zooming in kills the quality much faster than on my S21. Otherwise, I love the form factor, and while the phone closed is thicker, it still feels like it takes up less real estate in my pocket. Battery life has still been good as well. It lasts me all day at work and into the night.

Usually very hard on my phone (and can't really escape it at work). Otterbox and a glass screen protector have saved it so many times from some rather ugly falls, bumps, and scratches. Not the most aesthetic case but it hasn't let me down protection-wise.

Zack: IF THE SAMSUNG Z FLIP 5 SURVIVES… I'll Switch.

I'm generally pretty light on my phones, but my zFlip 4 hinge stopped fully opening after ~9 months. It was RMAd no questions asked, which was a good experience. I traded it in and got a zFlip 5 for $100, hoping that the new hinge mechanism lasts a bit longer this time around.

I love the aesthetics of the flip phones but... I'm so paranoid about it developing a crease as it gets older, which is something they still don't seem to have figured out. All those layers of soft, easily marked plastic are just not for me

The Great Folding Test showed, that flip 5's hinge is really durable and could withstand many forms of abuse (and dusty pockets are not a big deal for it either). It's quite impressive, what Samsung did over 5 generations.
