Wise was on the bench for 8 full innings. Then, when his name is called in the 9th he makes one of the most incredible plays in MLB history. He definitely doesn’t get enough credit for this moment.

In every no-hitter or perfect game, there is typically at least one outstanding defensive play somewhere along the way to keep it alive. That catch by Wise was one of the best ever. Great that the Soc honored it by denoting the spot on the outfield wall where Wise went over to reel "the catch" in

Mark Buehrle. The consummate professional. He knew how to pitch and respected the game. No frills. Would do anything to help his team win - no questions asked. The game needs more like him.

Not a White Sox fan, but this is one of the best games ever called by any announcer. My favorite part is that Hawk is completely silent during the final at bat until the ground ball, just to let the magnitude of the moment sink in. And of course, his call of the final out is perfect.

Say what you will about Hawk. But I’d be lying if I said he wasn’t brilliant calling this game.

Hawk Harrelson is the blue print for an announcer of a specific team. Loved that team. Cared about his guys. Made it important. It was like his family down there on the field. What a broadcaster. He and guys like Harry Kalas, etc, were parts of their clubs. Absolute legends.
