Being a denturer-wearer myself, I can tell you that you could have also used some modeling chocolate and wrapped it around your own teeth for an imprint. In fact, that's how actual dentures are made. The resin base is shaped to fit your bone structure, but the teeth are all custom laid to match any remaining teeth on your other jaw. If you're getting a full set from scratch, they can just make a brand new smile that fits perfectly without needing to adapt to your old teeth. The resin for the upper tray usually contains lots of various red filaments scattered throughout the gum section that will simulate tiny blood vessels when viewed from a moderate distance and blend well with the real texture of your gum tissue beneath. Bottom trays generally don't have the same filaments because most people never see the bottom gums even with broad smiles.

I have a question for you, Natalie! What is the *weirdest* thing you've done for cake? Not the weirdest cake, but the weirdest thing (like measure your own teeth for a dentures cake)?

And to answer your question: I find it funny and I like your surreal-but-realistic style. The only cakes I don't like (from you) are the ones that look like living animals. It makes me feel very uncomfortable to consider cutting into a living animal (because I didn't grow up on a farm or such).
