Actually I think the ancient Egyptian wires/bands were done to hold teeth in place after bone loss. In the skull you can see there was very little bone to support that tooth in the middle of the wires, which would’ve made it very loose. The wires would’ve stabilized it so it could stay in place for eating and aesthetics.

We still do remarkably similar things in dentistry today with splints, braces and other things when teeth/bones have been damaged. The Egyptians were WAY ahead of their time!

Honestly, braces have helped my self confidence greatly. They're a pain in the ass, sure..and I'll never forget the cheek cuts from the wires, and the painkillers needed after almost every appointment..but I swear, I love them so much.
I've had them for a little more than a year now, and I find myself laughing and talking more happily and freely than I did before.

I’m so grateful for not having to wear braces. Almost all of my cousins on my dad’s side had to have braces for years. They either suffer from very bad overcrowding or underbite. They told me how painful it was and how uncomfortable they can be sometimes. They have to had their diet restricted cause there are certain food they couldn’t eat. And a trip to the dentist every time is so expensive. All of them grew up with straight and healthy teeth now and I’m so happy for them. Their years of efforts really paid off.

if you’re getting braces soon, they’ll only hurt for the first few days. It may stab the inside of your mouth, but for me those hurt spots that were stabbed actually healed and no longer get hurt by that.

Idk about you but as the teeth straightened it looked satisfying

no actually the wire is heat activated and will try to straighten itself back out, because when you girst put in the wire its not straight because your teeth arent straight. the heat of your mouth activates the wire and thats why the braces work. thats also why the orthodontists have ro make sure to put the brackets in the middle of the tooth
