The most metal thing about this is actually that when the Tyranids arrive, they team up with the genestealers, but later turn on them. Also right before they kill them, the genestealers' mental link is severed, so they remember everything about how they betrayed their people just before they die

The "best" part is that at the end of the invasion, when the genestealer cultists has served their purpose, they are lined up for the assimilation pools (acid pools). And just before they're dumped in for a horribly painful end, they are disconnected from the hive mind, and for a moment they understand the true horror of what they have done.
