I never new Brasilian music was this good. I never new Brasil had so many nice people until I met them and I never knew that we (Turkey) are facing almost identical problems in many sense. Cheers to all Brasilian brothers and sisters struggling there. I hope to visit there one day!

When you can’t understand another language you feel the emotion and expression behind the words at its rawest. Just wow.

Best playlist to smoke a cigarette with coffee, thinking about your life and everything that has happened in the middle of this pandemic. Being an 18 year old Brazilian trying to learn how to deal with life

Chico Buarque - Construção (32:47) in particular, is insanely powerful. To those unaware, it's a song about a man dying while working in a construction site. It tells the story of the last day in his life, from kissing his wife one last time to falling off a building and... "smashing on the street, dying in the wrong lane, as nuisance to the traffic". It's a strong criticism on the alienation of workers in a capitalist society, which treats them as disposable commodities.

Each verse describes one action the man took, leading to his death. The song is split into two parts, before and after his death. The second part is the same as the first, execpt the verses start to get jumbled together. Initially it sounds like nonsense, except when you pay closer attention, it's reinforcing how mechanic and disposable worker's lives are. The song is also written in a meticulously unique way: every verse ends in a proparoxytone- stressing on the third last syllable.

It doesn't end there, though. The album this song came from was made and published during the harshest and most brutal years of the nationalist brazilian military dictatorship, that lasted from the 60s to the 80s. Many artists were killed, tortured, and exiled. This song's author, Chico Buarque, managed to avoid censorship by filling his albums with secret analogies and wordplay that mocked and criticized the government.

Many people consider this song to be the best Brazilian song ever written.

It’s been exactly two years since the first Brazilian doomer music playlist was released, and in a month or less from now it will have been 1 year since I found said playlist that I have been listening to ever since . Thank you for introducing me to bossanova which is now one of, if not my favourite genre of music.

Love is a strange thing, its one of the best and worst things anyone can experience, you can feel at the top of the world, or be one of the saddest person in the world at any second.

Músicas que escrevem todo o interior guardado de um brasileiro. A tristeza e solidão habita em todo o ser humano, mas o brasileiro, como todo mestre que é, faz com que isso se torne uma prática lendária! Eu amo ser brasileiro
