BlackBerry 10 Phones Still Work (For Now)

BlackBerry 10 End of Life was on January 4th 2022, and we thought that the phones would be "dead" after that, but I put my SIM card in my BlackBerry Z30 and tested it out and phone calls, text messages, multimedia messages, gmail on the Hub, and the internet still works! This is great news for people who still want to use their Blackberry Z10, BlackBerry Q10, BlackBerry Z30, BlackBerry Classic, BlackBerry Passport, and more, and only require basic smartphone functionality and services here in 2022, and for as long as network support works in their area/region.

A hard "like" for this video. Got me using my Classic on January 5. Text and call still work fine even though my carrier said no on January 4th.
Keep up the good work!

That’s good news for the short term for the people holding onto their BB’s. Hopefully OM will have a BB keyboard phone to the market sooner than later b

Still the most secure OS there is. I have a feeling we're on borrowed time but I am happy it still works. I moved on to Unihertz Titan but happy my old BB10 still have life in them

Took my Classic out and put in the SIM. Email, phone calls, text and apps work. The only thing that doesn’t is BBM. I will use it as my main phone for a few days. Still such a joy to type on.

BB10 was great. It leaves me wondering, what could be had BlackBerry not dropped out of the game.

No matter how many bells and whistles my Samsung galaxy phone has, it will never compare to an original Blackberry. And I miss the physical keyboard!!

Dude, I loved my blackberries. I felt that they where at a different level. The hardware was top notch.

3 Z30s, Z10, Q10… never used them as my primary device…no sims…but everything seems working for me…internet, YouTube, email etc.
Z30 is a great device!

I just stuck my T-Mobile sim in my Classic, that I now use as a most reliable and trusted alarm clock (and occasional web browsing), and made a telephone call. I would still be using the Classic if it would support the few apps I need for my business: Ooma, and Google Voice, to be specific. I switched to Apple in 09/20 purely for the reason that my Classic would not support any Android app that required a version of Android beyond 3.3. Junked the Apple for a Unihertz Pocket a few days ago. So far, so good with the Pocket, but it's like your wife died and you married her chubby sister. The Classic is just so, so elegant. I do like the Unihertz Pocket vs the Apple SE, but the Unihertz is just so chubby, and the keyboard does not measure up to the Classic's. The Pocket is a great improvement over the Apple in functionality and customization.

I switched from an iPhone 3G to the BlackBerry Leap in 2017 or so. Of course iOS 3 was extremely limited, but I loved the BB10 interface and how intuitive it was. A few weeks ago, in anticipation of the Jan 4 shutdown, I switched to an iPhone 12 mini. But other than phone service, which I switched out to the new phone, all my apps and wifi are still working on the Leap, which I've been using as a non-cellular iPod device. I hope I can continue to do that for some time! Also, being back on iOS, I quickly learned how much iOS had stolen from BB10 over the years, although I still prefer BB10. Thanks for the videos!

Amazon should also get the license for the BlackBerry brand!

Don't attempt to security wipe or load a new OS on your OS10 phones. I ended up bricking my Z10 and Q10 which wern't set up before Jan 4th. If you do wipe them, The phones will boot, but they will not connect to your mobile network or WiFI.

Still using my BlackBerry classic and KEY2.
Will keep it until the new model from OnwardMobility comes up!

This is awesome, I don't have a BB10 device anymore. Are you planning a detailed video on what is and isn't working? I don't have BB10 anymore, I just like seeing stay alive. I'm on a Priv with a Key2 LE on the way. I have a glimmer of hope that Onward is developing an updated BB OS.

UK will phase out 2G and 3G by 2033 according to a BBC article from 08 Dec. 2021. Some US owners may be able to sell their phones over here when 2G/3G is phased out in the US.

Their notice said Blackberry devices would "not work reliably" after Jan 4th, I interpreted that as them saying "the servers are up, but we're no longer maintaining anything. When it dies, it dies."

I'm still using my Key2 with At&t. I probably have never use any of my 4 BlackBerry to their full capacity. I switched from my Passport to Key1 so that I could have Android and upgraded to my current Key2 which I love. So texting, emails, a few Apps, a couple of games and calls is all I need; so I good for now. I'm going to use it until I can't and hopefully the new one will be available by then. A girl can dream...
