This is so simple and I have been using this method to release trapped air. I don't know why people bring in sophisticated items and methods in solving this.

As a DIYer I was hesitant to do a coolant change myself for fear of having trapped air in cooling system - now this has given me a bit of confidence. Im going for it & will let you know how it goes down🤞🏾. Thanks for this upload!!

I think this only works when the overflow hose and tank are elevated above the radiator. It might also be possible to disconnect the overflow tank from the car an lift it up higher.

I'm gonna have to do this on my truck tonight. A few months back, it got bitter cold outside and was causing my radiator hose clamps to loosen and leak some coolant. Now I got some air trapped in the system and I gotta bleed it out.

Wonder if this is my problem. Temperature gauge goes up when going uphill (tho I’ve been too scared to let it complete overheat) then goes back down to the middle when I lift my foot off gas on flat even road surface. Heater’s good, working. Just got water pump changed 2 weeks before because coolant was leaking. 🤔

Thanks for this I’ll try it if they can’t find a solution at the shop.

So basically I take off the coolant cap, turn on the car with heat on full blast (parked upwards on a hill preferably I assume) and let the car run for 30 minutes or until the air bubbles stop coming out of the hose as shown in the video. Then close the coolant cap while car is running. Did I get that correct!?!?

***NEW UPDATE*** I changed my coolant thermostat ($20 at autozone) and everything is back to normal. I suffered for a year with max heat on full blast trying every method, so glad this torture is over. Worst part is that I literally had a thermostat changed 6 months ago, whatever atleast it’s fixed. Go get this sh*t replaced guys, goodluck!

Just squeeze the radiator hoses while the cap is off. Works well too

Iv got heat coming from my heater, iv been having to run my heater at full speed to keep the engine from overheating and the top radiator hose is getting hot as F but the bottom hose is totally cold not warmed up whatsoever this is on a hyandai getz and its just had a service & coolant change. Im wondering if its air in the system or if its a thermostat stuck closed or failed water pump? Any ideas?

I changed my coolant reservoir only made sure no coolant came out of the hoses. Put it all together filled it up, started the car with the cap off and the hot air full blast till it hit normal temp. Cap back on waited for few min and temp 1 notch from half... hope I did it right.

does this work on a 2015 chrysler 200 s?
I’ve had so many issues with the car since i bought it. No heat, doesn’t fully overheat but it gets to the 3/4 mark. no engine light or anything on. Any other suggestions if this doesn’t work?

Does the level in the degas tank need to be above that line as shown in the video? My cold fill line on my bottle is lower than the level shown so my coolant level is lower than that hose is…

I've find this in my hummer h3. I replaced the thermostat. After driving for half an hour the temp Guage starts to go up
