Lyrics:

I open my eyes
I try to see but I'm blinded by the white light
I can't remember how
I can't remember why
I'm lying here tonight
And I can't stand the pain
And I can't make it go away
No I can't stand the pain
How could this happen to me
I've made my mistakes
I've got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me
Everybody's screaming
I try to make a sound but no one hears me
I'm slipping off the edge
I'm hanging by a thread
I wanna start this over again
So I try to hold onto a time when nothing mattered
And I can't explain what happened
And I can't erase the things that I've done
No I can't
How could this happen to me
I've made my mistakes
I've got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me
I've made my mistakes
I've got no where to run
The night goes on
As I'm fading away
I'm sick of this life
I just wanna scream
How could this happen to me

July 1st 2024, my friend was hit by a drunk driver running a red light. The drunk took the life of my friend with him. This song will forever be in my heart in memory of my friend. Fly high, buddy!

I was in high school when this song came out. Never really understood the deeper meaning of the video until now at 33. How when the moment of impact happens, all of the victims family members are tossed around too as if they were also in the accident. Showing that a tragedy like that doesn’t just impact the victims, but their loved ones as well.

Even though this song was basically a meme, it's literally one of the saddest songs I've ever heard.

My brother died about four months ago, suddenly and unexpectedly. It wasn’t a car accident, and it didn’t involve alcohol, but I still thought of this song. The scene where the whole family literally feels the brunt of the loss is so relatable and devastating. It’s real. Everyone feels the loss and the pain.

When your song becomes a hit but you forgot to give it a title:

This song has been with me through several depressive episodes the past 18 years. I’ll always love it and find comfort in it.

I know this song is about drunk driving, but the lyrics feel somewhat fitting for someone who's been crippled by depression, squandered their potential, and carries immense shame, guilt, and helplessness in them.

Every word in this song proves how I feel. I lost my grandma 3 years ago. I still miss her. I hope she finds happiness

I’m currently 57 days sober.. I had a severe drinking problem for the last 2 years. Personally, this song was a God-Send to me because it truly woke me up to my addiction and problems..

Once the radio played that "This Is Gonna Be The Best Day of My Life" song and then right after was this song.

I listened to this song as a 7 years old, now 26, it's still one of the songs that I listen to when I have anxiety attacks or when I feel depressed

My parents were in a car accident about 6 years ago. My father was almost killed. I am so thankful that they made a full recovery. I couldn't have gone on without them.

I lost my brother to a drunk driver and this video opens a world of hurt for me but it is also helping me to grieve and get it out.

jokes aside, this is actually both nostalgic and depressing and I'm not even depressed.

This song along with “I’m Just A Kid” are the reasons why I consider Simple Plan as my favorite band/artist. Their songs are always beautiful and supportive in the darkest times. 🙏🏼😇❤️
