Simple Plan had a free show here in Vegas. My Mom was out of town so she asked me to stay with my Dad that night. I asked my Dad if I should go to which he said “Hell yeah! If it’s free and you wanna see them, you should go!”not knowing how much their music summed up our relationship during my years in a touring band. My dad passed away earlier this year. I miss him so much. He did end up telling me how proud he was of me. Respect to all the dads that do the same. I will always love Simple Plan for writing such an important and emotional song.

This song is very popular in my country Philippines. Literally every 2000’s teenager knows this song. It’s also one of the all time favorite songs to sing in karaoke 😁

This song gets me emotional. I'm 51 and I'm looking at this from a father's perspective. Did I acknowledge my son and tell him i'm proud of him for being 'perfect' in my eyes.

My father is a successful man who has high standards with high expectations from me. Growing up nahirapan akong makuha palagi approval nya. Madalas kong sabibin sa mother ko bakit ganyan si papa palagi nalang akong mali sa paningin nya. Sobrang relate ako sa kanta na 'to. Ngayon I'm doing fine sa buhay, not super successful but kahit paano maayos naman. During my wedding in my father's speech he said he is proud of me. That really meant a lot. Finally I got a thumb's up.
