At one of the Titanic exhibits, I read a newspaper from a briefcase that had been recovered from the debris field. The paper was from Southampton and was dated April 9, 1912. The front page had the story of a stoker from the Titanic who had snatched a lady's purse. The stoker was taken up by the police and given 30 days in the local lock-up and was to miss the sailing of the Titanic. This impulsive act almost certainly saved his life!

A year or two before I lost the majority of my vision, I was lucky enough to see the titanic exhibit at the Ontario science center. It was incredible to see just how well preserved things like paper money or after all that time. I also love the fact that the admission tickets to the exhibit were modeled after titanic boarding passes with the names and information of real passengers. There was even a third class room set up, and a first class room set up so we could get an understanding of the accommodations.

22:15 Raise the Titanic was also a 1987 board game where you raced to basically loot the sunken ship and get home with the ships log so you can sell it. It did have one clever element. The ship was on a column in the center of the board, and as you looted the weighted items from the ship it actually rose off the board.

I went to an exhibit of Titanic artifacts in 2012. At the beginning they gave you a replica ticket with the name of an actual person who had been onboard on it, and then at the end you could compare it to a list to see if they survived or not. (Kinda creepy I know...they did something similar when I went to the U.S. Holocaust Museum). Seeing the artifacts was really cool though. I wish I could've taken pictures but I think it wasn't allowed.

As someone who had long been interested in the Titanic, it was really fascinating to me. Though I'm not sure how I got into it as I've never actually seen the 1997 movie (for some reason I remember my parents not letting me, though they deny this), though I was obsessed with the theme song ("My Heart Will Go On") at the time. One of these days I need to block out time to finally watch it.

As a Marylander, I WANNA know what "Chicken a la Maryland" is!! Also making a film about a tragedy 29 days after is the DEFINITION of "TOO SOON"!

Shortly after this video was published, there was an announcement in Halifax, Canada (the city mentioned in this video a few times as being close to the disaster site) about a new attraction to be developed here - some kind of Titanic-inspired waterfront hotel, with 1st- and 2nd-class accommodations modelled after those on the ship, and other on-site attractions like a 3D theatre, Titanic exhibit, and I think an aquarium. It caused quite a lot of talk here, as we're not a huge city and don't have very many gimmicky attractions like that. But barely a week later it was announced to be no longer going forward. I wonder what the story was there.

My favorite piece of movie trivia, and definitely a not-so-fun fact, is because of scheduling at Studio Ghibli the films "My Neighbor Totoro" and "Grave of the Fireflies" were completed and released at the same time, and were played as a double feature in many theaters in Japan. Talk about emotional whiplash!

As an Australian hearing Clive Palmer called a visionary made me do a double take. He bought his way into politics so he could spread his bigoted racist views, who has been called extreme by some of the most right wing racist politicians in Australia

I've seen a few artifacts. The most notable was one of the deck chairs that people are always metaphorically rearranging.
