Brother ScanNCut Tutorial - Direct Cut vs Scan to Cut Data - Valentine’s Day and Shower Crafts

In this tutorial, you will learn how to use Direct Cut and Scan to Cut Data using the Brother Scan and Cut SDX125. I share what each one is used for using stamped images as examples. The Heartfelt stamp set was used for the Direct Cut example. We cut out the Happy Valentine’s Day stamp and cut along the line of the image. This is a useful technique to use when you want to directly cut out your stamped images and use them as embellishments. It is fast and you have options such as adding an outline distance to add extra white space around the image or to create extra layers. The Under My Umbrella stamp set was used for the Scan to Cut Data example. We scanned in the umbrella and then saved the image. The advantage of Scan to Cut Data is being able to duplicate and edit the images you save. Then, we retrieved the image and duplicated it. You learn how to align the umbrellas so that they are right side up and not overlapping. We placed 48 on the mat and more could have fit. The umbrellas were cut out using the From My Heart Specialty Designer Series Paper. The umbrellas can be stamped later (optional) so that the lines appear on them. Both the hearts and the umbrellas were layered using punches for extra added dimension. The ScanNCut could also be used for creating layers using either the outline distance or offset features.

I have so many crafting things going on that I dont have time to use my scanNcut like I would like to. I truly enjoy your videos. Each video I tell myself "Im going to make that" but I dont. I just need to jump in with both feet and purchase some of your products and make a few things. You do a wonderful job of explaining and teaching.

GREAT video Kim! I have saved an image and then when I added say a dozen, they all landed on top of each other. not knowing what I did wrong, I manually moved each one. you showing me the button today was fantastic!!! (you probably showed that before and I didn't pay attention!) I have the CM 350 but I am assuming that machine has the same feature to separate them so thank you again very much!!! your tips and tricks really do save time! I loved your projects too - especially the showered with love tins

Great tutorial. I'm glad I found your videos today. How do you get your mat to stay sticky when it looks so well used?

I throughly enjoy your tutorials, I was wondering if you have tried the quill pen to put foil on your projects. Then that fill button really matters because it will fill in your little shapes with foil, verses just drawing a foil shape.
Truly thank you for all you do.

On the Beehive update I noticed your red finger tips on your right hand. I figured you must be busy with your Valentine's projects (LOL)! I was sort of lost about the heart punches as I don't have them yet so didn't know the one made a border when they cut out the stamped image.

Question....the sheet of paper with all the big “foil” hearts, can I do a direct cut to cut each of those hearts out?
