For those who don't know, standard fuel injectors don't fire sequentially in high RPM in port injection. Once above ~3K RPM or so you're relying solely on the valvetrain, as the injector pulse width is so long, it backs into the open time from another event. The injectors are basically spraying at higher rpm. SEFI really is only effective under that RPM level, but SEFI hands down is the more efficient in regular driving. Bank fire is perfectly fine for making a lot of power at a race track since it's doing the same thing at higher rpm, and we don't care about fuel economy as we do in day to day driving conditions. Of course, injector sizing and engine size determine the specifics.

Direct injection on gas or diesel is another animal, and so are port/direct injection combinations like you see on the Ford 5.0. Direct injection does allow us to fire once or multiple times per combustion event, which has the effect of controlling timing more precisely so we can advance it for more power and efficiency, and it can allow a more complete burn of fuel in the diesel's case.

Just for anyone wondering, no, the injectors don't all fire at the same time. There is a specific firing sequence based on the cylinder ignition pattern. Otherwise, cool video.

At high rpm, injector mechanical response lag is impossible to avoid leading to less smooth power delivery. The graphs admit to this disadvantage .

The speed transistion was not shown as it would be slow enough to be noticeable . It would show the limitations of this technology .

I showed this to an automotive engineer who watched this at 1 thousandth of normal speed and they saw a not - perfect pulse timing for the 10, 000RPM sampling . This is due to the mechanical solenoids not keeping up with the input signal perfectly . We did this test in their workplace and noticed this limitation . The solenoids don't keep up if the speed changes abruptly and very frequently .There is no remedy for this . We tried going from 1, 500 to 15, 000 rpm in one tenth of a second and the system simply couldn't perform when big demands are made of it .Carburettors in my motorcycle respond better .

10k rpms naa. More like 1rpm it never cuts off fuel one straight line of consistent fuel. 😂

Not all cylinders fire at the same time so does that mean for a V8, they would fire at 1/8th the rate shown? Or this mimics actual firing rate except all shown at the same time since its test rig.

do they work with water? i wanna set up a fuel injector shower speaker system! hear your music through the flow of water! im gonna need high rpm injectors for tremble and big ones for bass. hook up to a amp and see what happens.
